The Westwood Subdivision is located on both the southwest and the northeast corners of FM 1488 and FM 2978. It is made up of 4 sections that are organized under a single home owner's association know as the "Westwood Landowners' Association". Westwood is one of the older subdivisions in the area having been formed just prior to the oil bust in Houston. As a result, it was mostly stagnant for years until the home owners took over the association in 1993. Since then, its 3 pools have been resurfaced and the associated bath houses have been rebuilt. A large pavilion was also built that doubles as a basketball court and a meeting place for the association at large. Two children's playground with swings, slides and picnic tables have been created. One is located on Westwood North Dr.; the other is located on Oak Bluff Dr. In addition, a new office was built within the subdivision and a full time Administrator and a part time Courtesy Patrol driver were hired. There is also a volunteer Architectural Control Committee to approve/disapprove of new construction. The Westwood Landowners' Association also puts out a quarterly newsletter to keep its members up to date. There is a single annual meeting as well as quarterly update meetings for the general membership.
